Walking times and parking at 13 hotels

Walking times are estimates, not routed timings: the method is at the end of the page. Where a hotel or venue publishes its own distance, it is quoted alongside. Parking is what each hotel's own website says on 11 October 2026; "not confirmed" means the hotel's site could not be read, so nothing is stated rather than guessed.

Which hotels are closest to the BIC?

The Hermitage stands on Exeter Road across from the BIC. It has 79 bedrooms, a restaurant and a bar, and gives free parking only to guests who book with the hotel directly. Its website does not say what other guests pay or how many spaces there are.

Hotel Collingwood on Priory Road gives its own distance as 400 yards from the BIC, which fits the estimate of about 4 minutes. It has a heated indoor pool, hot tub and sauna for residents, a car park with EV charging, and "courtesy parking" listed as a benefit of booking direct, subject to availability.

Hilton Bournemouth (Terrace Road) and the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott (St Michael's Road, on the West Cliff) are both about 5 minutes from the BIC by the estimate here. Neither chain's website could be read on 11 October 2026, so their parking prices are not given: third-party sites quote figures for both that disagree with each other. Check the price when booking.

Which hotels are closest to the Pavilion?

The Pavilion Theatre is on Westover Road, east of the BIC, so the order changes. Premier Inn Bournemouth Central is on the same road, about 2 minutes away, and the Royal Bath on Bath Road is about 3 minutes. The Hermitage is about 2 minutes from both venues, which makes it the only hotel here that is equally close to each.

Premier Inn Bournemouth Central has no on-site parking. Its hotel page points drivers to the Pavilion car park and quotes £18.90 per 24 hours in winter and £25.40 in summer, but the council's own Pavilion car park page shows £20.90 and £28.00. The council figure is the current one.

The Royal Bath charges £28 per 24 hours for valet parking, the highest hotel parking price on this page. Its own page gives the number of valet spaces as 25 in one place and 50 in its FAQ, so the capacity is unclear. Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is 10am Monday to Friday, 11am at weekends.

Which hotels near the BIC have parking?

Three hotels within about 7 minutes of the BIC give parking free, but only to guests who book direct and only while spaces last: The Hermitage, Hotel Collingwood and The Connaught. The Green House and The Cumberland, further out, work the same way. Book through a third-party site and The Connaught charges £12 a day, The Green House £10 a night.

The cheapest paid parking near the BIC is at Travelodge Bournemouth Seafront: £8.50 per 24 hours from October to March and £9.50 from April to September, card only, with Blue Badge holders exempt. Spaces are first come, first served, and paying for several nights does not hold a space if you drive out and back. The barrier height of 1.98m rules out many vans and cars with roof boxes. Check-in is from 3pm.

The Connaught has the largest hotel car park on the West Cliff in this list, at 66 spaces including three disabled bays. Only Executive rooms and main-hotel suites booked direct come with a guaranteed space. Its single EV charger costs £20 a use and needs booking in advance.

THE NICI charges £27 a night for parking, first come, first served, with no guarantee of a space.

Hotel parking or the BIC car park?

If the hotel cannot promise a space, the BIC's own multi-storey (644 spaces, open 24 hours) charges £23.50 for up to 24 hours, and a flat £12 from 5pm to the end of a show. Travelodge's £8.50 to £9.50 and Heathlands' £5 each cover 24 hours for less than one show night in the BIC car park. Council car parks around the Pavilion and the pier change price on 1 November. Tariffs, height limits and the cheaper car parks within a 10-minute walk are on the BIC and Pavilion parking page.

East Cliff hotels: a longer walk, cheaper parking

The East Cliff hotels on Grove Road and East Overcliff Drive are 13 to 20 minutes from the BIC by the estimate here, but closer to the Pavilion than to the BIC.

Heathlands Hotel on Grove Road charges £5 per 24 hours for its 65 spaces, the lowest hotel parking price found, with no height restriction. The hotel's own page puts the BIC at a 15-minute walk and the town centre and beach at 10 minutes each.

The Green House, also on Grove Road, has 32 spaces and three EV charging points. Parking is free when booked direct and £10 a night through other sites. Its page gives Bournemouth station as an 18-minute walk.

The Cumberland on East Overcliff Drive is the furthest hotel here, at about 20 minutes from the BIC, but it sells a "BIC/Pavilion Staycation Package" with breakfast and dinner, prepaid and non-refundable. Parking is free, normally £12 a day, subject to availability.

The O2 Academy is in Boscombe, not at the BIC

The O2 Academy Bournemouth is at 570 Christchurch Road, Boscombe, BH1 4BH, according to the venue's getting-here page. That is about 1.8 miles in a straight line from the BIC, nearly 50 minutes on foot by the method used here. None of the hotels in the table is a short walk from it.

For a gig at the O2 Academy, a hotel in Boscombe is the closer choice: see Boscombe in the areas compared. The venue lists Pokesdown station about 1,100 metres away, and Bournemouth station about 2,000 metres.

How the walking times were worked out

Each estimate takes the straight-line distance between the hotel's postcode and the venue's postcode (BIC: BH2 5BH; Pavilion: BH1 2BU), using postcode centre points from postcodes.io, which publishes Office for National Statistics postcode data. That distance is multiplied by 1.3 to allow for streets not running straight, then divided by a walking pace of 80 metres a minute.

A postcode centre can sit 50 to 100 metres from the actual front door, and the cliffs and gardens add slopes, so allow 2 or 3 minutes either way. Where the hotel or venue gives its own figure, that is shown in the table too.

Frequently asked questions

How far is the BIC from Bournemouth railway station?

The BIC gives the distance as 1.3 miles, about a 28-minute walk, on its transport page. The nearest bus stop to the venue is Bournemouth Pier, which the BIC puts at 82 metres away.

Do BIC conferences fill the town's hotels?

No source checked for this page says that BIC events sell out Bournemouth's hotels. Conference organisers do publish hotel advice: the BAPEN conference at the BIC on 10 and 11 November 2026 says there is "a wide variety of hotels within 15 minutes walk" on its venue page.

Can you park at a hotel without staying there?

None of the hotels on this page offers parking to non-residents on its website. The Connaught says it cannot offer parking even to people attending an event at the hotel itself unless they are staying over. Without a room, use the BIC multi-storey or a council car park.

Prices, rules and policies change. Everything on this page was taken from the hotel, operator or council concerned and checked on 11 October 2026; check with them before you travel. Spotted something out of date? See how we research.
